Song: “Midday Refuge”
Just thought we’d share some video footage from our last show…You get a good look at what we do live, with looping different instruments and such…What I love most about this clip is Joe’s smooth transition from electro beats and samples to full kit…He always blends the two so brilliantly…We’re booking some more shows now, so be sure to join the mailing list to stay in the loop…Plus, you get 4 FREE MP3S as well!!!!
Be good.

“Only In The Dark”…A Dynamic Illumination of Sound and Sight
March 30, 31 and April 1, 2010
————————-
In celebration of our new album, “for the struggle”, we hosted a three-night run of performances…We were fortunate enough to have 2 amazing spaces for the event…The first hour was spent inside a beautiful Art Gallery called The XYand Z – http://www.thexyandz.com … Wine and food was served, and it gave us a chance to meet a lot of fans, and thank them for being there…Then everyone moved inside the attached mini movie theater, called The Trylon Microcinema – http://www.take-up.org … This space is so intimate, and was the perfect setting for us to really create our own little world for a while.
Thanks again to our amazing team of helpers, and to everyone that was there…We both can honestly say it was the highlight of our musical journey thus far.
We love you!

you gotta love the green…

Today I am working on the storyboard and pre-production for a music video…The song is “midday refuge”, and how fitting that this is what I get to enjoy as I work…The concept of the video is pretty cool, it involves a LOT of quick camera work, so we’ll see how that goes…We’re hoping to start shooting the first week of June! You can listen to the song HERE.
Showtime Fun at the 501…TONIGHT!
That’s right, kids, the sun is FINALLY out, birds are singing sweet hymns of gratitude, the ground is covered with bold greens and rich soil…And how can one celebrate this glorious re-entrance into Spring? By spending tonight inside a dark rock club, that’s how! Doors are at 9:30, we should play 2nd, probably around 11:00…Click on the logo below for directions and details!

See ya there!

Movin On UP!!!

I am extremely excited…Yesterday we moved out of our tiny basement studio and into a spacious spot on the main floor!!! The new room has 20 foot ceilings and a built in loft that spans about 3/4 of the room, giving us way more options…We can now have a space for performance, a seperate office/recording area, space for storage AND even a lounge!!!!!! The old space was nice, just teensy tiny…I’m really excited to get everything set up…Pictures to follow soon.
The CD Release shows were such a blast…Definitely a highlight of this journey so far…3 nights with amazing people, and everything went as planned, which is pretty rare…It really solidified just what we want to do as a band…We’re working on another event very soon, and also some other new stuff involving video, etc…More to come on that soon.
We’ve got new tracks to start plugging away at as well, as soon as the studio gets on its feet…guess I should head over there now and get some work done.
Love you.

At First Avenue and not a Single Drink???!!!

Yes, indeed my friends, I spent tonight down at the legendary First Avenue, for the Best New Bands of 2009 showcase…This was the first time I’d been there since I quit drinking almost 3 months ago…Had a blast, despite the clarity…One of my favorite bands, Peter Wolf Crier played an explosive set, deliberately in your face and unbridled…Quite a different feel from their This Is Not For You house show (which I absolutely loved)…Red Pens also delivered an energetic, pounding set…This was my first time seeing them, and I dug it a lot…For some reason I thought Howard would be screaming more, but I was pleasantly surprised that he actually sings quite well…our friend Laura Bennett really rocked out the skins too!
Seeing local bands is always great, but this time I left feeling a bit different…Was it that dangerous sobriety??? To be serious, I know what it is…Putting shows on hold for months because we were putting an album together is really getting to me…Being cooped up in a studio for 10 months is not fun…I am absolutely thrilled with the new record, but still, there is nothing like playing live and sharing your art with an audience, and I really miss that.
So that’s what I will be working on for a while, getting my full spark back…I reset up our studio space into “live mode”, versus recording mode, so I can show up and just jam, instead of worrying about recording, which is how I spent most of last year...I remember the days when I first started writing, playing guitar and singing…I want that rush back, that pure excitement and gratitude, without the worry of album promotion, marketing, blah blah blah.
Album release shows are set for the end of March, and THAT, I am sincerely excited about…The venue is perfect, and we are really going to enjoy the 3 nights we are there…I’m finishing up the flyer this weekend and will be letting everyone know the details soon.
Thems my thoughts right now.
Much love,
Ryan
